WHY CROSSFIT GOLDFINCH?

You only get one body, one brain, and one life. It’s our responsibility to care for them.

At some point in your life, you’re going to need to pick up something heavy. Maybe it’s doing landscaping.

At some point in your life, you’re going to need to push hard for a while. Maybe it’s running through an airport to catch a flight.

At some point in your life, you’re going to need to sprint. Maybe it’s trying to catch a toddler unknowingly on their way toward danger.

So why wouldn’t we prepare for those things? That’s why we lift, run, and do push-ups and burpees.

At some point in your life, you’re going to get old. But age doesn’t mean decrepitude. Time doesn’t mean poor health.

Our goal is to have fun while we become the best versions of ourselves that we can be.

FAQs

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit, by definition, is "constantly varied functional movements performed at a high intensity over broad time and modal domains." That gobbledygook essentially means this:

Our goal is to get you to be fit for anything life throws at you by doing as many different things as we possibly can—SAFELY—but with some intensity. Running, lifting, gymnastics, push-ups, burpees, and anything else you can think of are fair game. But intensity is completely relative to you.

Let's take an example; two people running a mile.

Person A can run a 7-minute mile but runs a 10-minute mile.

Person B has never finished a mile running before-- let alone run a 12-minute mile-- and runs the whole way for an 11:30 mile.

We LOVE person B. Their intensity is higher than person A. That's what CrossFit is. A million little examples of taking what you can do and trying to do it as best you can.

Who can do CrossFit?

Short answer? Everyone.

Best answer? You.

CrossFit, and life for that matter, is not about what you can and can't do. It's about trying to make yourself the best version of yourself possible. You don't need to jump over a car or lift 500 pounds. If those are your goals, we can help you get there. But helping a friend move, playing tag with your kids, getting the Christmas Tree up from the basement, or running after your dog when they slip out of the front door are all life instances that we want to ready you for.

Don't I need to get in shape first?

Absolutely not! The point of a training program is to get you from point A to point B, regardless of where those points are. Some of the members of our gym have started with the goal of losing weight. Some with gaining it. Some started simply trying to stay in shape, while others are trying to be active, healthy, and fight off conditions like MS or diabetes. No matter where you are or where you think you need to be, there's no better time to start than now.

What is a class like?

Everything we do is based on a 60-minute class. But the great thing is, you don’t need to come with any plan at all. Our coaches will explain what the workout is, what the point of the day is, and understand where everyone is starting from that day with their bodies, and what modifications each athlete should undertake. There will then be a warm-up, technique period (or periods) to go over movement safety and efficiency, and then a workout to be done, followed by a cool-down. No prep from you other than simply just showing up and doing the work.
